Hello from San Diego!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I know the Fall season has officially begun around the country, but us spoiled San Diegans are still enjoying 80+ degree weather…in fact, its actually been pretty hot the last couple of weeks! I hope everyone is enjoying college football season as much as I am!

We are in the midst of our fall softball workouts, and the Aztecs are looking really good. Friday is our first fall scrimmage and I am very anxious to see our kids in real-life game situations. We have worked very hard both on the field and in the weight room, and I know everyone is anxious to get some games under our belts and see what we have.

Mark, Chase and I spent a few days in northern Arizona on a mini-vacation a couple weeks ago. Mark is a graduate of Northern Arizona University, and is always bragging about how beautiful it is during this time of the year. Our first day was spent in Sedona, which was my first visit. What a beautiful and unique place! We took a famed Pink Jeep Tour drive back into the Sedona desert and loved every minute!

We then spent 3 days in Flagstaff and the surrounding areas. I love living near the beach, but have always felt so at home in the mountains. I LOVE the sounds of the wind rustling through the trees, and the fact that you can find a place that is not totally overrun with people and traffic. We took the chairlift at the Arizona Snowbowl and marveled at the view from the top. We also enjoyed an awesome and exciting NAU football game – even though the Lumberjacks lost in overtime.

This was our first family vacation, and it was a blast! Chase is still a great traveler, and is so easy and pliable. He loved hiking in Sedona and in the mountains of Flagstaff, and got to see a really cool “birds of prey” demonstration at the Flagstaff Arboretum. He loves his animals!

We also have been on the “house hunting” trail, and had a bid accepted on a house in Bay Park. Its exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time! We have not officially said YES to the house, but are very close. This will be our second go-around after we sold our house in Visalia, but we are stressed out nonetheless. Hopefully everything will fall into place and we will have a place to call our own. Cross your fingers!

Chase is already anxious to meet Santa again, even though we have to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first! He has been working on his “Trick or Treat” line, and is already singing several Christmas carols. He’ll see a picture of Santa and say, “I love you, Santa!” I keep thinking: if you think you love Santa now, WAIT until you actually understand how awesome Santa really is!!

Enjoy the last of the warm months, and always Dream BIG!
